What is hand stretch film?

Hand stretch film (also called hand stretch wrap or manual pallet wrap) is a thin, elastic LLDPE film applied by hand, with or without a dispenser, to secure boxes and products on a pallet. It clings to itself without adhesive, keeps the load stable and protects goods from dust and moisture during storage and transport.

What thickness of hand stretch film do I need?

For light to medium loads, low-gauge films such as Stretch Tech MELITE PLUS WE (9 µm) or STIF Evolution (8–9 µm) give outstanding strength with less plastic. For heavier or irregular loads, use LC3 (11–23 µm) or LC2 (15–30 µm). Pre-stretched ESSENCE (5–8 µm) gives the lowest film consumption for general packing.

What is pre-stretched hand film and why use it?

Pre-stretched film has been stretched during production, so the operator does not need to pull hard while wrapping. It is lighter, easier to apply and gives a strong "stop effect" that holds the load firmly. Stretch Tech ESSENCE (off-line) and STIF Evolution (on-line) are pre-stretched grades that cut film consumption and operator fatigue.

What roll sizes are available for hand stretch film?

Standard widths are 390, 400, 430, 435, 450 and 500 mm, with roll lengths from 200 m to 600 m on 38 mm or 50 mm cores. Roll weights range from 2.2 to 3.5 kg. Tailor-made sizes and extended cores are available for bulk and export orders.

What are reinforced edges on hand stretch film?

Reinforced (folded) edges make the film edge stronger and resistant to tearing when the roll is pulled tight around pallet corners. MELITE PLUS WE, ESSENCE and STIF Evolution are available with reinforced edges.

Is your hand stretch film recyclable?

Yes. All Stretch Tech hand films are made from 100% recyclable LLDPE. For extra sustainability, choose NATURE RR LC2 with 60% recycled content or NATURE BD LC3, which is biodegradable according to BSI PAS 9017:2020.
